Job Description

Highly responsible supervisory administrative and technical work planning, directing, managing and overseeing all activities of the Airfield Maintenance Department, including ensuring proper maintenance of airfield pavement and infrastructure in accordance with FAA Part 139 requirements and grounds maintenance of off-site Airport properties in compliance with local code requirements. Responsible for the maintenance and repair of the on-Airport roadway systems serving the Terminal and South Campus. Coordinates maintenance and repair projects with other divisions, departments and outside agencies/contractors. Identifies and implements best practices for completion of airfield and Airport grounds maintenance and repair activities. Responsible for maintenance and repair of the Airport fleet of vehicles and departmental equipment, such as tractors, mowers, and heavy equipment. Performs such other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
2. Five (5) years responsible experience in airfield construction and/or maintenance or facilities maintenance, with at least two (2) years supervisory experience.
3. A valid drivers license.
4. Comprehensive understanding of Federal Aviation Administration Part 139 requirements, particularly those relating to airfield maintenance and repair, preferred but not required.
5. Probationary or Permanent status as an Airport Assistant Maintenance Manager (C8140) and at least six (6) months in that classification.
6. Eight (8) years responsible experience in airfield construction and/or maintenance or facilities maintenance, with at least two (2) years supervisory experience.
7. A valid drivers license.
8. Comprehensive understanding of Federal Aviation Administration Part 139 requirements, particularly those relating to airfield maintenance and repair, preferred but not required.

Note: Candidates must pass a personal, criminal, and employment background check required under federal regulations.

This is a non-competitive original entrance examination in accordance with Rule V, Section 8.1 (b) of the City Civil Service Rules.

This position requires a one year probationary period.
