Position Overview:

The Staff Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, while assisting with various accounting functions. This position reports directly to the Controller.

 

Essential Job Functions

• Prepare and maintain the timely reporting of both monthly and annual financial statements while preparing various types of journal entries.
• Initiate account reconciliations, create monthly journal entries, and assist with month-end closing procedures.
• Conduct regular analysis of financial records to identify and resolve any discrepancies or variances.
• Detail processing for accounts receivable, including invoicing, processing daily cash receipts, and reconciling open balances.
• Assist with the accounts payable function as needed, including daily processing and weekly check runs. 
• Monitor supplier bill backs, calculation of various monthly supplier rebates, and monitor supplier accounts receivable. 
• Assist with the annual audit and tax processes, including annual 1099 reporting and ensuring W-9 forms are kept current.
• Responsible for maintaining fixed asset and depreciation records as well as intangible assets and amortization records.
• Maintain the documentation of accounting processes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities: 

• Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience with general ledger accounting and account reconciliations along with a general understanding and awareness of GAAP.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft applications.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidential information.
• Exceptional time management and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Microsoft Dynamics experience is a plus.

Experience and Competency Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Business, Finance, accounting).

Physical Requirements: 

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
